The overall aim of this two-day workshop is to historically reconsider the concept of Finno-Ugric kinship
from a comparatice perspective, locating it on the map of other pan-nationalisms of the 19th-20th century.
The planned interdisciplinary workshop will be carried out in cooperation with the the Herder Institute for Historical Research on East Central Europe (Marburg, Germany), the Hokkaido University Slavic-Eurasian Research Center, (Hokkaido, Japan), the Hokkaido University European Office in Helsinki, and the Aleksanteri Institute of Helsinki University.
