Arrival

Public transport

Marburg is situated at the railway line Kassel – Gießen – Frankfurt (Main). There is at least one connection per hour from either direction. From Marburg main station, line 10 runs once an hour (always 10 after, from 9.10) to the Herder Institute stop. For more details on the connections, please refer to the RMV online timetable.

By car

You can reach Marburg from the north and south via the Bundesstraße 3, leaving it at the Marburg-Mitte junction. From there you drive via Erlenring, Rudolphsplatz and Universitätsstraße to Wilhelmsplatz, where a steep approach via the streets Barfüßertor – Rotenberg – Sybelstraße and Lutherstraße begins. The institute is located in Gisonenweg directly on the Schloßberg.

On foot from the main station

The distance from the main station to the Institute is only about 2.5 km; however, it involves a steep climb. You can reach the institute via the streets Bahnhofstraße – Elisabethstraße – Roter Graben – Renthof – Hainweg – Schloß – Gisonenweg. The walking time is about 30-40 minutes.
