Departments and Directorate
Founded in 1950, the Herder Institute for Historical Research on East Central Europe – Institute of the Leibniz Association is an internationally renowned center for research on East Central Europe. Within the broader context of the Leibniz Association's expertise on Eastern Europe, the Herder Institute, as an institution of scientific infrastructure, places a special emphasis on its digital offerings and globally unique collections.
The institute is divided into five departments and the directorate with the research coordination staff unit. The departments are: Digital History and Information Infrastructures, Research and Transfer, Research Library, Scientific Collections, and Administration.
