Fellowships and Promoting Junior Researchers
One of the central concerns of the Herder Institute is the promotion of scientific projects and scientific exchange. For this reason, it awards research fellowships to both young and experienced scientists. Another important aspect of the Herder Institute’s work is the promotion of scientific careers.
Unlike university institutes, the Herder Institute, as an infrastructural institution with numerous collections (images, maps, documents, books, press and press clippings), can provide a comprehensive, sustainable offer for the promotion of young scholars in close connection with the collections.
The Herder Institute Research Academy (HIRA) offers a structured training and a lively exchange with researchers who are working on similar topics. The HIRA provides a forum for young researchers to draw up academic theses.
Herder Institute provides fellowships – for scholars from both East Central European countries and Western Europe – for a stay of up to three months in Marburg. Application deadline for fellowships in 2025 is September 30, 2024.
