50TH INTERNATIONAL ABDOS CONFERENCE
Venue: Herder Institute for Historical Research on East Central Europe – Institute of the Leibniz Association from Monday, 15 May to Wednesday, 17 May 2023 as a joint event with the hosting institution.
The organizers request proposals for short (10 minutes) or long (20 minutes) presentations on the following topics:
- Libraries in times of war
- The historical dimension of 50 years of ABDOS: From the Iron Curtain to torn down walls – and back again?
- Open (Re)Sources in the information landscape for East, East Central and South East European studies
- Changes and challenges: How do libraries deal with new structures, new media and new areas of engagement?
During the conference participants will have a chance to acquaint themselves with several parts of the Research Library as well as the Document Collection (Archives), the Map Collection and the Image Archives of the Herder Institute. We also aim to foster the exchange and discussion among participants by providing time and appropriate formats.
The programme will also include an informal get-together on the evening of 14 May, the ABDOS General Assembly on 16 May and a
guided tour of Marburg highlighting local connections to Eastern Europe.
Since hotel capacities in Marburg are limited, we recommend an early reservation. ABDOS has secured a number of hotel rooms in the B&B Hotel in the centre of Marburg. Rooms can be booked until 13 April 2023 using the code ABDOS2023.
Conference fees: 80 EUR for ABDOS members, 110 EUR for non-members and 400 EUR for our commercial partners. This includes coffee breaks and a light lunch.
The official conference languages will be German and English. No simultaneous interpretation will be provided.
Please enter your proposals for presentations (including abstracts of up to 500 characters) electronically through our website https://www.abdos.de or directly through https://forms.gle/iAKGWJMWwpcqbdDB6
Deadline: February 28, 2023.
