Topographic map series
In the directory of topographic map series of the Herder Institute provided here (currently 121 titles with around 25,000 sheets), a further important step has been taken on the route from the traditional analogue map collection towards an historical-geographical information centre on East Central Europe. Most of the available topographic map series and general maps at a scale of 1:10,000 to 1:2,500,000, some of which extend beyond the historical-geographical area of East Central Europe, come from the 19th and 20th century. Of particular significance are the modern land surveys of the historic states of East Central Europe and current, official topographic map series of the states of Central and East Europe, which are accessible for the first time since the most recent political changes.
The following list can be filtered by the initial letters of the countries/regions and sorted by region or signature. If already available, a preview of the map series (
) can be displayed and the interactive map index (
) opened using the appropriate symbol. The geographical map sheet search additionally lets you find all sheets of the topographic map series already recorded, whose area of representation covers the place being searched. When showing map indexes, long download times may occur, particularly when using Internet Explorer.
