- Studied Geography and Slavic Studies (Russian/Czech) at Philipps University, Marburg
- Thesis: Migration tendencies between Poland and the Federal Republic of Germany during the transformation period, examined at selected German destinations (Altena, Hilchenbach)
- 1996 – 1998 Worked on the project on the geography of transformation of Polish industrial companies, Philipps University, Marburg
