How to reach us
Public transport:
Marburg lies on the Kassel - Gießen - Frankfurt (Main) railway line and can be reached approximately in hourly intervals from both southerly and northerly directions. Numerous bus routes run from the main station in Marburg to the Hanno-Drechsler-Platz/Gutenbergstraße bus stop, from where no. 10 buses run to the Institute. It takes around 10 minutes from Hanno-Drechsler-Platz/Gutenbergstraße to the Herder Institute bus stop. The bus runs once an hour. Arrival by car:
You can reach Marburg from the north or south on Bundesstraße 3, which has been expanded into an urban motorway, getting off at the Marburg-Mitte junction. From here, travel along the Erlenring, Rudolphsplatz and Universitätsstraße to Wilhelmsplatz; a steep ascent along the roads Barfüßertor - Rotenberg - Sybelstraße and Lutherstraße starts here. The Institute is located on Gisonenweg, directly on the castle hill.
Footpath from the main station:
The distance from the main station to the Institute is only about 2.5 km; however, there is a steep ascent. You can reach the Institute by following the roads Bahnhofstraße - Elisabethstraße - Roter Graben - Renthof - Hainweg - Schloß - Gisonenweg. It will take you about 20-30 minutes on foot.
